What We Have Here Is A Failure To Communicate

ACCORDING TO RASMUSSEN POLLING TODAY: 44% OF AMERICANS STRONGLY DISAGREE WITH THE PRESIDENT’S JOB PERFORMANCE, ONLY 23% STRONGLY AGREE.

Hello, America. My title comes from an old Paul Newman movie, a great classic where he is locked up for two years and continually tries to escape from prison and is brought back time and time again, prompting the warden to utter those now famous words to him after being captured once again, “What we have here is a failure to communicate.”

The same sentiment could be said for Washington also. While we are suffering from a major debt crisis(created by Washington) they are currently running around in Washington(on your dime, I might add)trying to strike up a deal between the Republicans, Democrats and the White House concerning the debt ceiling debacle.

So, I must ask you, aren’t you tired of elected adults acting like small children on a playground, threatening to take their toys and leave because they aren’t getting their way? This President has tried to drive our economy into the dirt with the Democrats sitting in the passenger seat for the whole way and now they are screaming that Seniors won’t get their checks on August 3, the military won’t get paid, student loans won’t get funded and the list goes on and on.

This, America is a problem that could have been prevented, but no, we have a President in the White House who believes in social justice. We now have more people on welfare(around 47 %) since the depression era and it continues to grow and we have a President who comes to the podium and does he lead? No, he does not, he blames the Republicans. I have watched his last press conference and I do not remember ever watching a President berate someone on national television as he did the Speaker of the House this past week. Do leaders do this? No, but he is so afraid to put something on the record and he is always in campaign mode at the expense of you, the American people, and I ask those of you who still support him, why? What has he done for this country? He is a total economic failure. He proposed his first budget in May and it was unanimously rejected by the Senate, Democrats and Republicans(97nays,3no votes)He proposed very few spending cuts and major tax increases. When a country owes 14 1/2 trillion dollars and he wants the debt ceiling increased by over 2 trillion dollars and he wants 1.2 trillion dollars in tax revenues(that’s Washington speak for tax increases by the way) How can anyone seriously have any confidence in this President? How can anyone seriously believe that you can stop the debt from increasing by spending more? Seriously, if you believe that then come on down south, I have some swamp land for sell.

Here are the facts. This administration and the democrats love to blame Bush and yet, under the Bush administration we were spending 1.6 billion a day and under Obama, we are now spending 4.1 billion a day. Unemployment under Bush was a little over 5%, it is now at 9.2%.  A stimulus package of a trillion dollars was passed, the money is gone and we have no new net jobs in this country and when the President goes out and says the stimulus bill created jobs, he is not being honest with you. Ask him how many jobs were sent overseas, ask him how many businesses have either not hired new employees or had to downsize their businesses or worst of all have had to close their doors and his only response is the big bad capitalist businesses in this country should pay more. I ask you how many businesses do well in a hostile environment?

We were also told without the stimulus unemployment would sky rocket and now even with stimulus it has reached 9.2% and I am afraid that it may get even worse than that. You cannot grow an economy if you are concentrating on Social Justice. You cannot see a low unemployment rate when you continue to put people on the government dole, when you scare big and small businesses because they don’t know what is going to happen with their taxes and have been vilified by this President. And don’t even get me started on the repercussions of Obama care for businesses and employees.

Come on, America, we can do better, we should demand better from our elected officials and we should expect that the leader of our country do just that, lead, not cry fowl, not play the blame game, not call out businesses as the villains in this play. I expect, no I demand better, Mr. President and so should you, America.

Which Way The Wind Blows

“The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.”  Patrick Henry

Hello America. Moby Dick had nothing on the way politicians seem to always stick a finger in the air to decide which way the public opinion wind is blowing before making a decision in Washington. (And don’t ya feel like a lot of times it is the middle finger?)

But you know, I have come to the frustrating conclusion that I cannot completely blame the politicians for the asinine decision making process, for they would not be where they are without the people electing them into office, oftentimes over and over again! Nor can I blame politicians for the seemingly fickle and sometimes downright ignorant decisions and/or support of the American people. I mean, come on, America, are we all really as naive as we are portrayed or are we so self-absorbed that when thinks get tough, we jump ship quicker than passengers on a collision course with an ice-burg?

How do you think we have gotten to the point of bankruptcy in this country? How do you think we have allowed our elected officials to raise the debt-ceiling to over 14 trillion dollars? Because we always buy into the lies that politicians(from the President down) when they come on the air and tell us that unless we allow them to raise taxes, raise the debt ceiling, raise the Social Security age,(you get the point?) the world as we know it, will cease to exist and I for one am tired of the public buying into this.

Come on America, grow a backbone.  Stop buying into stupidity of race and economic warfare. Democrats are partially right(no, I did not fall on my head) when they say we should protect Social Security and Medicare. What they don’t tell you is that they were right there with the Republicans with their hands out, raiding the Social Security trust fund for their pet projects at the expense of every Senior in this country. Seniors make up approximately 1/6 of the population(a huge voting block) and why you are not screaming bloody murder is baffling to me. And you Republicans with the platform of raise the retirement age(which has been raised from 62 to 65 to 67)and cut senior benefits because after-all you Seniors are OLD and disposable is not only a stupid decision on your part, it is also a losing proposition at election time. You all remind me of Barney Fife, always in danger of shooting yourself in the foot rather than aiming for the right target.

Both parties refuse to listen to sane, hard-working Americans(I know because I have mailed my Congress, my Senators, House Majority Leader and the national GOP party without a response from any) It’s simple, we as hard working tax payers and Seniors in danger of having benefits cut want government to down-size, we want waste to be eliminated, we want the almost fifty percent of Americans who pay no taxes to have to pay something into a system that takes care of them without any investment on their part. We are tired of watching our trust-fund being raided for pet projects so get rid of them! We are tired of people receiving checks from the government when they have not paid a single tax dime into the system. We are tired of taking care of people who have no desire to take care of themselves.

But as stated at the beginning America. I can no longer blame the politicians in office, since they had to be voted into office and I can no longer blame the politicians when we Americans continually fold when times get tough.

I long for the day when all Seniors stand up for themselves and tell Washington to take a hike and for the time when hard-working Americans tell Washington in true Clint Eastwood fashion, go ahead, punks, make my day. Raise the debt-ceiling without true government cuts, continue to operate without a balanced budget and continue to spend our money recklessly and we will vote every one of you Republican, Democrat, Independents out of office and mean it. Come on America, we are better than this, we can all take the same advice that politicians should adhere to, say what you mean and mean what you say!

The Sky Is Falling!!

Hello America. I am finding it harder and harder to stomach anything that is going on in Washington. We are currently in a game of chicken, GOP against the President, over raising the debt ceiling and I wonder who will eventually blink?

The Presidents want more revenue, aka: raising of taxes for you and me. The GOP want spending cuts and the bargaining chip between them? Our debt ceiling which is currently at a measly $ 14 Trillion dollars. The democrats want it raised by another $ 2 Trillion because we will be in default if it is not raised by August.

And our esteemed leader has thrown out every scare tactic that he could think of and denigrated every money making group in this country to get his way and why you ask? Because if you scare people and use class warfare, then maybe you can get what you want if you have public opinion on your side.

Our government has been such a steward of responsibility when it comes to spending, not. Let’s see, according to the President, all rich people should pay more taxes because lets face it, they don’t pay their fair share now. I mean when ONE percent of our population pay the majority of the taxes in this country while 47 percent pay NONE, well, I say, tell the rich to pay more of their money into an ineptly run government and if they have the nerve to gripe, then tell them to shut-up and eat cake!

And according to his highness, I mean our President, if the debt ceiling isn’t raised, kids will lose their scholarships to colleges, well, I say, let them lose them. I mean, have you seen what is being taught in college nowadays anyway?

And seniors and poor people will lose their benefits. Way to go, Mr. President, scare senior citizens and create class warfare. All of this is garbage by the way. Scare tactics, class and race warfare seems to be the tired  standard that this administration drags out every time they want to get their way and the Republicans aren’t cooperating.

As many have stated, we don’t have a revenue problem in D.C., we have a spending problem, a really big spending problem. And I ask you do you give an alcoholic a drink when he asks for it? No, you put take him straight to rehab and that is what we should be telling our elected officials. They should pass a balanced budget and quit spending our tax dollars like there is no tomorrow. Of course, if we keep on this present course, there may be no tomorrow!

Look up your elected officials on the right side of my blog (under Conservative USA) and e-mail them. Tell them not to raise the debt ceiling, and give us real change, like stop with the spending, after all, it is our money.
